Title:
TOOL HOLDER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS63318203
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable a cutting tool to carry out machining such as cutting, etc. with high accuracy by using a piezoelectric element and an elastic body to make the holder of the cutting tool slide and further, enabling static pressure sliding in a sliding space with a static pressure feeding means.

CONSTITUTION: A holder 1 receives a pressing force from a piezoelectric element 4 while also receiving a stress against the pressing force from an elastic body 5. Hence, as a voltage is applied to the piezoelectric element 4, the holder 1 is slid in the arrows A and B direction under an extremely small hysteresis and, by this sliding, a cutting tool 2 which is held by the holder 1 is also slid, to be aligned to a workpiece. Also, since a static pressure is applied to the housing part 9 of a housing member 3, the holder 1 makes static pressure sliding with nearly no frictional resistance with respect to the housing member 3 and the cutting tool 2 also makes static pressure sliding, to be ideally aligned to the workpiece.
