Title:
TORSIONAL DAMPER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3680905
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize a vibration damping function by providing an excellent vibration damping effect in both of twist vibration at the time of a low rotational speed and twist vibration at the time of a high rotational speed and suppressing the eccentricity of an inertial body in the direction of a center of gravity at the time of a low rotational speed.
SOLUTION: A gap G between a hollow annular housing 11 and an inertial body 12 housed therein is filled with a magnetic sensitive fluid 13 and a viscous fluid 14 never dissolved mutually therewith, and an annular magnet 15 is provided in the inner peripheral part of the housing 11. In a stationary state or during low-speed rotation, the highly viscous magnetic sensitive fluid 13 is magnetically attracted/held to the inner peripheral part in the gap G by the magnet 15, and the low viscous fluid 14 is unevenly distributed in the outer peripheral part in the gap G and, thus, viscosity resisting torque is reduced, and during high-speed rotation, since the magnetic sensitive fluid 13 having higher specific gravity than that of the viscous fluid 14 is unevenly distributed in the outer peripheral part by a centrifugal force and the viscous fluid 14 is unevenly distributed in the inner peripheral part, viscosity resisting torque is increased.
