To make realize a press contact of a toner image carrier with a recording material at the time of transfer in a proper width even when the width of the recording material is changed and to obtain excellent transfer by providing a pressing means with plural elastic bodies having different flexural rigidity and forming plural folds in a direction nearly perpendicular to the longitudinal direction on the elastic body having a large flexural rigidity.
An endless belt is provided with the pressing members 27 and 28 bringing paper 7 into press-contact 7 with a photoreceptor 21 and a corotron mask 29 shielding a non-paper area from corona discharge from a transfer device near a transfer part. Then, the members 27 and 28 and the mask 29 are held by both end pulleys 30a and 30b so that the members 27 and 28 may extend over a printing area and the mask 29 may extend over a photoreceptor surface part in an area where the paper does not exist according to the change of paper size. The pressing members have double structure and the member 27 directly coming in contact with the paper 7 is constituted of the elastic body which has a small flexural rigidity and the member 28 is constituted of an elastic body where plural folds are formed and which has a comparatively large rigidity.
