PURPOSE: To eliminate the possibility that transfer paper is nabbed and jammed by using a separating pawl of a single body having the front end part which is continuous over nearly the entire length of a fixing roller and forming the front end part to a peak shape inclining forward in the rotating direction of the fixing roller from the central part toward both sides.

CONSTITUTION: The separating pawl 8 which prevents the transfer paper 7 fixed with toner images 7a on upper and lower fixing rollers 3, 4 from being stuck to and wound around the upper fixing roller 3 is provided with the front end part 9 continuously over nearly the entire length in the axial center direction of the upper fixing roller 3 so as to separate the transfer paper 7 by coming into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the upper fixing roller 3. The front end part 9 is formed to the peak shape inclining forward in the rotating direction of the fixing roller 3 from the central part of the axial center direction toward both sides. The sepn. of the transfer paper 7 is started in the central part in this way and the paper is eventually separated continuously toward both sides. The possibility that the transfer paper 7 is deformed, nabbed and jammed is substantially eliminated.
