Abstract:
The system comprises a tower crane with a boom made up of fixed landward (1.6) and seaward (1.4) sections and a swiveling seaward section (1.5) This carries a lifting unit (11). Rails (7, 8) are mounted on the landward section of the boom, along which grabs (9, 10) move. Independent claims are included for: (a) a method for unloading ISO-containers from ships using the system; and (b) a method for loading ships with ISO-containers using the system.
