To provide especially pump composition using a blood cooling self-aligning type ball cup rotor support part which employs no blood as a bearing fluid about a transplantable axial flow blood pump which employs a blood infiltrating rotor equipped with a suspension section which forms no thrombus.
The axial flow blood pump (10) has a rotor (20) which is suspended by ball cup bearings (38, 42). This bearing is of blood cooling, but is not of blood lubrication. A ball cup mechanism is formed of a material with high thermal conductivity and is in contact with a thermally conductive stator upright vane (30) so as to transfer heat, which acts as the endothermic material of the bearing. The ball cup mechanism is by far smaller than the stator upright vane in the radius direction. Since the interstice between the interfaces of a ball and a cup is very small, the ball versus cup mechanism provides a blood flow with the mostly continuous surface.
