Title:
TRAVELING DISTANCE ODOMETER FOR VEHICLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3867604
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the illegal falsification of a stored traveling distance integrated value in a traveling distance odometer comprising an involatile memory storing the traveling distance integrated value.
SOLUTION: The traveling distance integrated value A of a vehicle is encrypted with a key code and stored in an EEPROM 60. As the traveling distance integrated value stored in the EEPROM 60 is encrypted with the key code, a falsifier cannot easily know an address storing the integrated value among the addresses of the EEPRROM 6 without decryption with the key code, even when the falsifier compares the traveling distance integrated value A displayed on a liquid crystal panel 40 with the storage contents of each address of the EEPROM 60, which makes it difficult for the falsifier to illegally falsify the traveling distance integrated value stored in the EEPROM 60 by rewriting the same to a smaller value.
