Abstract:
To treat various org. compds. to reduce their chlorine levels.
The method for reducing the chlorine content of an org. chlorine compd. comprises a step of mixing the org. compd. with at least one acid selected from among a Lewis acid having no carbon atom, a mineral acid other than hydroiodic and hydrobromic acids, and an org. acid having a pKa lower than about 2; and a step of keeping the compd. in contact with at lease one kind of acid in the mixture for a sufficient amount of time for reducing the chlorine content of the compd.
