PURPOSE: To enhance the appearance by forming a recess in an inner panel at its neighborhood of the end in such a way as intruding to the outer panel side, welding the recess to the outer panel, and thereby concealing welding marks inside the trunk room when a trunk lid is shut.

CONSTITUTION: The trunk lid 11 of a car 10 is subjected to hemming process so that the end 12a of an outer panel 12 is wrapped in while overlapped on the end 13a of an inner panel 13. In the neigborhood of the end 13a of this inner panel 13, recesses 14 in the number of types are formed in such a way as intruding greatly to the outer panel 12 side. The bottom 14a of each recess 14 is spot welded to the outer panel 12. A garnish 15 is installed to the outer surface of the outer panel 12 by a bolt 16 in conventional manner. The garnish 15 shall have a size in such a magnitude as to cover welding marks 17 on the outer panel 12.
