PURPOSE: To obtain the title inducer having action to induce the production of tumor necrotic factor without side-effects by using cepharanthin.

CONSTITUTION: The subject inducer contains, as an active ingredient, cepharanthin extracted from a plant, TAMASAKITSUDZURAFUJI, Stephania cepharantha Hayata. An essence obtained by concentration of the extract under reduced pressure, a precipitate obtained by treatment of the acidic extract with an alkali, and the alkaloid fraction separated from the essence or extract also can be used. The inducer is used as such or in the form of tablets or powder containing an excipient such as starch, lactose, a binder such as hydroxypropylcellulose, a lubricant such as talc and other additives. Said inducer is used in combination of the secondary stimulator such as lipopolysaccharide or pertussis vaccine.
