Title:
METHOD FOR INHIBITING HISTAMINE RELEASE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01203323
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To inhibit or suppress the release of histamine from the mast cells of a mammalian by bringing the mast cells into contact with a benzo-C- phenanthridine alkaloid. CONSTITUTION: The mast cells of a mammalian are brought into contact with a benzo-C-phenanthridine alkaloid, sanguinarine. The benzo-C-phenanthridine alkaloids can be extracted from the plants of the families Papaveracease, Fumariaceae and Berboridaceae, and includes sanguinarine, chelerubine, macarpine and allocryptopine. The sanguinarine (1-10μM) inhibits the release of histamine stimulated with a known compound 48/80 as a histamine-releasing agent. The inhibition action is exhibited, also when the release of the histamine is induced with a histamine-inducing agent comprising concanavalin A, a polypeptide (fraction A) or calcium ionophore A23187.
