To provide a twin-roll continuous caster, capable of prolonging life of a cooling roll by maintaining a shape of a protrusion or a ridge formed on the surface of the cooling roll for a long time and maintaining effect such as uniformalization of thickness of a solidified shell due to the uniform arrangement of the protrusions or the ridges for a long time.
The twin-roll continuous caster casts a cast slab 16, for example, by cooling molten steel 14 supplied to a molten steel reservoir 13 between the cooling rolls 11 with the surface of the cooling rolls 11 and solidifying it. In the apparatus, the ridges 17 are formed on the surface of the pair cooling rolls 11, a cast slab end 16 A is formed by press-fitting both the ends in the width direction of the solidified shell 15 formed by cooling the molten steel 14 and solidifying it on surfaces of steps 11a arranged at both the ends in the width direction of the cooling roll 11, and a cast slab center part 16B containing the unsolidified molten steel 14 between the solidified shells 15 is formed by cooling the molten steel 14 and solidifying it on the surface of the center part 11b in the width direction of the cooling roll 11.
