PURPOSE: To decrease the loss of generated ultrasonic waves and to improve production efficiency by integrally forming an acoustic matching lens consisting of a thermoplastic resin on the front surface of an ultrasonic vibrator transducer and forming the ultrasonic vibrator transducer side of the acoustic matching lens of a fine powder mixture layer formed by mixing the fine powder of ceramics of the same material as the material of a piezoelectric element.
CONSTITUTION: The thermoplastic resin mixed with the fine powder of the ceramics of the same material as the material of the piezoelectric element 2 is supplied to the front surface of the ultrasonic vibrator transducer 1 to form the fine powder mixture layer 12. The molten thermoplastic resin is then supplied onto the fine powder mixture layer 12 and a mold is pressed to the resin to form the acoustic lens layer 13 having a lens shape before the resin solidifies. The acoustic matching lens 11 consisting of the fine powder mixture layer 12 and the acoustic lens layer 13 is then adhesively bonded to the ultrasonic vibrator transducer 1 without via an adhesive layer simultaneously with the lens formation. Then, the difference in the acoustic impedance between the ultrasonic vibrator transducer 1 and the acoustic lens layer 13 is so relieved as to be decreased by the presence of the fine powder mixture layer 12 and the losses of the ultrasonic waves by the reflection at the boundary are decreased.
