To provide an ultrasonic sounding body which prevents the destruction of a piezoelectric element and defects such as a defective electrode and reduces the cost.
An ultrasonic sounding body 110 for a parametric speaker generating ultrasonic waves includes: a plate like piezoelectric element 111 which is expanded and shrunk by voltage being applied in the thickness direction; a metal plate 112 where the piezoelectric element 111 is bonded to one main surface, the metal plate 112 forming an unimorph structure with the piezoelectric element 111; and a resonator 114 which is provided on the other main surface of the metal plate 112 and resonates with vibrations of the metal plate 112 to generate ultrasonic waves. The resonator 114 is bonded to the metal plate 112 and is not directly bonded to the piezoelectric element 111. Thus, the destruction of the piezoelectric element 111 and a defect such as a defective electrode are prevented. Further, the unimorph structure makes one piezoelectric element 111 sufficient for the ultrasonic sounding body and reduces the cost.
