Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an umbrella which can prevent injury due to reaction in the opening or closing operation along with a stout building.
SOLUTION: A lock means 13 for preventing the downward movement of the lower runner 20 is formed near the upper end of the metal rod 10 and the surrounding wall 21 of the lower runner 20 is provided with a retaining means 22 having a retaining part 220 which sticks out to the metal rod 10 from the surrounding wall 21 when pushed from outside. A working means 30 which is movable vertically within a specified range along the axial direction of the lower runner 20 while being able to move the lower runner 20 vertically is provided outside the lower runner 20. When the lower runner 20 is moved upward along the metal rod 10 by the operation of the working means 30 and reaches the site where the lock means 13 is formed, the retaining part 220 of the retaining means 22 is pushed by the working means 30 sticking out to the metal rod 10 to be retained onto the lock means 13 thereby preventing the downward movement of the lower runner 20.
