To provide a universal head system that allows pan/tilt rotation of a device to be rotated, in an arbitrary direction and can be easily stored and carried.
The universal head system 100 includes a base unit 101, a head unit 102 and a hinge unit 104. The base unit 101 has: a pan rotating section 111 for rotating the head unit 102 within a flat plane that is almost perpendicular to the rotating flat plane of a lens unit 103; and a fixed base section 112 for supporting the pan rotating section 111 so that the pan rotating section 111 is rotatable. The head unit 102 has: a head unit main body section 105; and a tilt rotating section 121 for rotating the lens unit 103. The hinge unit 104 connects the head unit 102 to the peripheral edge part of the pan rotating section 111 of the base unit 101 so that the head unit 102 is rotatable. The universal head can be set in the position where the base unit 101 and the head unit 102 are arranged flat and the position where the head unit 102 is erected from the base unit 101.
