To provide a universal joint with a foam solid lubricant enclosed which can simultaneously achieve a long service life, low cost, excellent productivity, and reduction of load on the environment, and to provide its manufacturing method.
This universal joint is formed by enclosing the foam solid lubricant 10 around a torque transmission member (ball) 6. The foam solid lubricant 10 is formed by foaming and hardening the mixture including a lubricating component, urethane pre-polymer having isocyanate groups in the molecules, a hardener, and a foaming agent. The lubricating component is at least a lubricating component selected from lubricating oils and greases. The content of the isocyanate groups in the urethane pre-polymer is 2 wt.% or more and less than 6 wt.%. The foaming agent is water. The mixture includes the lubricating component of 30 to 70 wt.% of all of the mixture, and the rate of open cell after foaming is 50% or more.
