Abstract:

To provide a polyalkyleneglycol derivative for the use as a lubricant, more specifically, as a lubricant for a compression type refrigerator.

The use of a borate ester of formula (III) as a dehydrating agent for a lubricant used with refrigerant is provided. [RY-X-(RaO)r(RbO)s(RcO)t-O-]3-B (III), wherein: X=O or S; RY is a 1C-10C alkyl or a 3C-15C substituent including a heterocyclic ring, with the heteroatom(s) in the ring being oxygen and/or sulphur; Ra is a 2C alkylene; Rb is a 3C alkylene; Rc is a 4C alkylene, r, s, t are each independently 0 or an integer of 50 or less, and r+s+t=3-50 (including the values at both ends).
