Abstract:

To provide the use of coke formation preventive low-alloy steel in the manufacture of facilities and equipment for use in petroleum refining and petrochemistry and also to provide a new steel composition usable for the manufacture of the above.

The new steel composition has a chemical composition consisting of ≤0.25% C, >1 to 10% Mn, 1.5 to 5% Si, ≤0.03% P, ≤0.03% S, 4 to 10% Cr, 0.5 to 2% Mo, ≤0.40% V, ≤0.10% N and the balance substantially iron. The main part of a furnace, a reactor or a conduit tube or only the attachment part or auxiliary part thereof can be constituted using the above new steel composition.
