To provide a convenient vacuum cleaner permitting reduction in size of a dust collection device keeping the suction force while securing the amount of dust collection.
In the cyclone dust collection device 7, the upper part is formed with a separation chamber 10 and the lower part is formed with a dust collection chamber 11, and an exhaust pipe 17 is disposed at the center in the separation chamber 10. The diameter of the separation chamber 10 is smaller than that of the dust collection chamber 11, and a projecting rib 20 formed approximately on the same plane as the inner wall of the separation chamber 10 is made to project from the separation chamber 10 toward the dust collection chamber 11. With this structure of the dust collection device 7, the dust included in suction air to be returned to the exhaust pipe 17 can be separated from the suction air by the projecting rib 20 and suction of the dust collected in the dust collection chamber 11 by the exhaust pipe 17 can be prevented even if the dimensions of the dust collection device 7 in the height direction and in the radial direction are reduced. As a result, the dust collection device 7 which keeps the suction force while securing the amount of dust collection can be miniaturized.
