To provide a valve device that can minutely set a low valve opening area flow characteristic and improve the accuracy of the flow characteristic particularly in a low valve opening area without the worsening of the characteristic caused by hysteresis.
A valve element 13 moved along with a movable iron core 8 by the exciting current of a coil 2 so as to open/close a valve is formed into cylindrical shape engaged with a valve seat 9c. A passage part 14c tapered toward the tip of the valve body 14, and an engaging part 14b of circular arc shape leaving a cylindrical outer diameter so as to be engaged with the inner diameter of the valve seat 9c are formed at the tip part on the valve seat 9c side. A space formed at the passage part 14a and the inner diameter of the valve seat 9c is made a fluid passage, and the engaging part 14b of circular arc shape holds engagement with the inner diameter of the valve seat 9c even when a valve is opened to the maximum.
