Title:
VALVE OPERATING CAM OF ENGINE AND OPERATION MECHANISM THEREFOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03179111
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To generate the best torque according to each rotation from low speed rotation range to high speed rotation range using a single cam by providing a substantially valve operating cam which is a cam shape for low speed rotation at one end surface portion and a cam shape for high speed rotation at the other end surface portion. CONSTITUTION:A valve operating cam 1 is formed like a substantially as shown in the attached drawings such that one end surface portion thereof is a cam shape (1a) for low speed rotation and the other end surface portion is a continuously formed cam shape 1B for high speed rotation. The side surface (1c) of the cam 1 is a taper portion having a surface continuously formed from the low speed rotation range to the high speed rotation range. One end of a cam shaft 2 having the above cam 1 is spline-fitted to a rotating wheel 4, and the cam shaft 2 is moved in the axial direction to displace the cam position where the upper end (ball) 10 of a valve rod of an engine valve is engaged, whereby the optimum valve timing suitable for the low speed rotation range to the high speed rotation range can be obtained so as to improve the engine output and the fuel cost.
