Title:
VAPOR-PHASE POLYMERIZATION OF OLEFIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3269376
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of a massive polymer in the conventional fluidized bed vapor-phase polymerization process and realize a long-term stable polymerization reaction.
SOLUTION: A process for the continuous vapor-phase polymerization of olefins in a fluidized bed reactor, wherein a circulating gas containing an unreacted monomer discharged from the reactor and a supplementary monomer is cooled in such a manner as to satisfy the relation of the formula Td<T<Td+5°C (wherein Td is the dew point of circulating gas, and T is the cooling temperature of circulating gas) and introduced into the reactor, while the inner wall of the reactor is cooled to a temperature equal to the dew point of the circulating gas or lower. The vapor-phase polymerization can be thereby performed stably without the occurrence of a massive polymer, especially, e.g. a sheetlike mass, caused by the unstable temperature in the fluidized bed due to the local accumulation of polymerization heat.
