To provide a variable displacement swash plate compressor and a discharge capacity control method for the variable displacement compressor for showing high responsiveness when changing discharge capacity and opening, closing, and controlling a solenoid valve provided on the halfway of an air supply passage and a ventilation passage comparatively simply and properly.
This variable displacement swash plate compressor is provided with a suction chamber 14a for sucking compressive fluid having low pressure, an operation chamber 31 for compressing the compressive fluid, a discharge chamber 14b for discharging compressive fluid having high pressure, a crank chamber 17 for storing a swash plate 23 rotatable together with a rotary shaft 18, the air supply passage 41 for communicating the crank chamber 17 with the discharge chamber 14b, and an air bleed passage 43 for communicating the suction chamber 14a with the crank chamber 17. This compressor is provided with an air supply side solenoid valve 40 provided on the halfway of the air supply passage 41, an air bleed side solenoid valve 42 provided on the halfway of the air bleed passage 43, and a driving circuit 44 for opening and closing the air supply side solenoid valve 40 and the air bleed side solenoid valve 42 simultaneously by duty control in common.
