Abstract:
To provide a system that generates a variable magnetic field using superconducting coils, and a system that saves the energy of static magnetic refrigeration by using the same.SOLUTION: A cooling device 50 prepares a plurality of superconducting coils 51 and arranges magnetic working substances 52 inside the coils. The cooling device causes a predetermined current to flow in the superconducting coils 51 from a power supply 24 and subsequently cuts off the current from the power supply 24. Since the superconducting coil 51 has characteristics that its electrical resistance is zero, the current continues to flow in the superconducting coil 51. Next, the cooling device changes the current flowing in these superconducting coils 51 according to a predetermined sequence, and transfers energy stored in advance. For example, the cooling device sequentially causes the maximum current to flow in one of the four superconducting coils. Since a magnetic field acting on the magnetic working substance 52 changes according to the current in the superconducting coil 51, the exothermic and endothermic state of the magnetic working substance 52 is changed.
