Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the service life of a bearing member and dispense with a specific means for preventing oil leakage by reducing a load of the bearing member while allowing variation of measurements of the members in installation of an electromagnetic solenoid in a variable valve timing device.
SOLUTION: This variable valve timing device 1 varies a rotational phase of a cam shaft 110 in respect to a transmitting member 2 by moving a piston member 43 in an axial direction of the cam shaft 110 on a specified passage for transmitting the rotation of the transmitting member 2 to the cam shaft 110 through a helical mechanism composed of a gear 433 and a gear 32. A second electromagnetic solenoid 5a is arranged so as to surround an axial center line of the cam shaft 110 through a bearing member 6 for generating magnetic field which attracts a member 46 to be attracted. A case 8 is arranged so as to surround the second electromagnetic solenoid 5a. An elastic body 7 is arranged between the case 8 and the second electromagnetic solenoid 5a, for elastically holding the second electromagnetic solenoid 5a inside the case 8.
