Title:
ON-VEHICLE CAMERA
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH11312300
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To change the photographing range of an on-vehicle camera according to traveling speeds, etc.

A camera 2 is installed in the vicinity of an upper part of the front glass of a vehicle 1. Zoom-in and zoom-out are performed according to the speed of the vehicle 1 by driving a zoom lens of the camera 2 according to the signal of a speedometer. When it is running at low speed, with particular attention being focused on monitoring of an obstacle, etc., immediately in front of the vehicle 1 by performing wide-angle photography. When running at high speed, concentration is focused on monitoring of an obstacle, etc., away from the vehicle 1 by conducting telephotography. Otherwise, the photographing range is suited to running speed by changing an elevation angle or a dip angle of a light axis of the camera 2 according to the speed and gear ratio of the vehicle 1. Otherwise, panning, tilting, zooming, focusing are adjusted by driving a universal head, etc., of the camera 2 by an operation panel at a driving seat. Furthermore, the pan, the tilt, the zoom, the focus are also adjusted according to a signal from a navigation system and the outside of the vehicle. Thus, information for safe drive is collected through obtaining of a video of an optimal range by changing the photographing range of the on-vehicle camera 2.
