Abstract:
To provide a vehicle control device and a vehicle control method which are capable of reducing power consumption required for recognizing a position of a user terminal approaching a vehicle.SOLUTION: A vehicle control device 10 includes: a first terminal position recognition unit 22 which recognizes a first position of a user terminal with respect to a vehicle 1 by operating a plurality of a first predetermined number of second communication antennas 61 and performing second radio communication between the vehicle 1 and the user terminal when first radio communication is established between the vehicle 1 and the user terminal; and a terminal distance recognition unit 23 which repeatedly executes terminal distance recognition processing for recognizing a distance between the vehicle 1 and the user terminal by operating a second predetermined number of the second communication antennas 61 which is less than the first predetermined number, based on the first position and performing the second radio communication between the vehicle 1 and the user terminal, and thereafter recognizing the distance between the vehicle 1 and the user terminal by changing the number of the second communication antennas to be operated in accordance with the distance between the vehicle 1 and the user terminal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
