The vehicle controlling device of a vehicle is equipped with a gear ratio calculating means for calculating a gear ratio on the basis of an accelerator operation variable, a shift control means for carrying out shift control of an automatic change gear on the basis of the calculated gear ratio, and a means for determining whether or not to carry out fuel cut control when going into the idle state by accelerator return operation and a speed of an internal combustion engine is a predetermined engine speed or more. When it is predicted (S4-Y) that the internal combustion engine is going into the idle state on the basis of a variable (S3) changed in response to the accelerator return operation, the gear ratio calculating means calculates (S6) a gear ratio during idling on the basis of the accelerator operation variable, and the shift control means regulates (S9) shift control to the gear ratio during idling when the speed of the internal combustion engine in the gear ratio during idling will become less than the predetermined engine speed (S8-Y) on the basis of the gear ratio during idling and a present vehicle speed.
