To certainly prevent that a driver overlooks traffic information to cause a serious accident by allowing recognition of the traffic information such as a road sign or a traffic signal hard to be seen by the driver by backlight without needing spread improvement of a communication function or maintenance on a road infrastructure side and performing coping according to the traffic information.
In this vehicle driving support device, an area wherein the traffic information is present is divided from a vehicle forward image, a brightness distribution of the area is calculated, and an area wherein the brightness distribution exceeds a prescribed value is recognized as a candidate area. When the candidate area is recognized, an aperture value wherein the recognition of the traffic information in the candidate area becomes possible is calculated based on the brightness distribution of the candidate area, and the vehicle forward image is re-imaged with the aperture value.
