Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make the positioning accuracy of a vehicle position more precise.
CONSTITUTION: A relative sensor which measures the relative position of a vehicle to the surface of the ground, a GPS which detects the relative position of a plurality of satellites to the vehicle on the basis of signals sent by the respective satellites and steps 31 to 35, 42 to 53 which can measure a position on the basis of information from the plurality of satellites detected by the GPS, which measure the relative position of the vehicle only on the basis of the output of the GPS when the estimated error of a positioning operation is smaller than a prescribed level and which measure the absolute position of the vehicle only on the basis of the output of the GPS and the output of the relative sensor or the output of the relative sensor in cases other than it are installed in an on-vehicle positioning apparatus.
