This vehicle electric power unit 100 is provided with a direct voltage source B supplying source voltage to a starter 30, a driving voltage supply device 10 receiving supply of source voltage from the direct voltage source B, generating load driving voltage from the received source voltage, and supplying it to the current consumer 40, and an idle stop ECU 50. The driving voltage supply device 10 includes a booster circuit supplying pressurized voltage with source voltage pressurized as load driving voltage when source voltage is in a predetermined range, and an operation verifying part verifying whether or not boosting operation in the booster circuit is normally executed. The idle stop ECU 50 performs automatic control for restarting an engine according to determination that boosting operation can be normally executed. Also, the idle stop ECU 50 prohibits idle stop control according to determination that boosting operation is abnormal.
