Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle running information gathering device equipped with a function capable of taking a self-diagnosis without any connected printer and optionally specifying even diagnosis items and a self-diagnostic method for this device.
SOLUTION: A diagnostic procedure storage means 11 stores a self-diagnostic procedure composed of diagnostic items regarding a circuit mounted on the vehicle running information gathering device and external equipment connected to the device. A diagnostic item selecting means 12D selects specific diagnostic items out of the diagnostic items in response to the operation of a diagnostic item selection switch for manually selecting the diagnostic items. A selected item executing means 12E reads self-diagnostic items out of a diagnostic procedure storage means device diagnostic means and executes the selected specific diagnostic items to generate the diagnostic results of the diagnostic items. Then a display means HDSP displays the diagnostic results and a selection menu of the diagnostic items.
