The vehicle steering telescopic shaft 20 is constituted of mutually spline-fitted male spline shaft 21 and a female spline shaft 22. Resin coating 23 is formed to a surface of the spline of the male spline shaft 21. The mutually spline-fitted male spline shaft 21 and a female spline shaft 22 are heated in a heating furnace at an ambient temperature in the furnace of around 150 C, and the temperature state is kept for around one hour. Then, by air-cooling to a room temperature, annealing treatment of the resin coating 23 formed on the surface of the spline of the male spline shaft 21 is performed.
