To provide a vehicular program rewriting system which can more preferably rewrite programs of ECUs (electronic control units).
A rewriting device 54 of the vehicular program rewriting system 10 includes the steps of: outputting to a display device 74 a power-on continuation request signal for requesting to continue power-on even if an IGSW 64 is at a position for turning off the power supply of the display device 74 in rewriting the programs of the ECUs 56a-56d; causing the display device 74 to display a first operation instruction of the IGSW 64 for turning off the power supply of the ECUs 56a-56d before starting rewriting the programs; causing the display device 74 to display a second operation instruction of the IGSW 64 for turning ON the power supply of the ECUs 56a-56d again upon detecting the power-off of the ECUs 56a-56d in connection with the first operation by a user; and rewriting the programs followed by the second operation by the user.
