To provide a vehicle control device avoiding a shock in a transmission.
This vehicular transmission has: the transmission arranged in a power transmission passage reaching a wheel from a driving force source of a vehicle; a meshing clutch for connecting or cutting off the power transmission passage of the transmission; a friction brake for connecting or cutting off the power transmission passage of the transmission; and a hydraulic control device for controlling operation of the meshing clutch or the friction brake, and can switch a driving position of putting the transmission in a power transmittable state and an non-driving position of cutting off power by the transmission. The transmission also has: a first control means (Steps S3, S4, S5 and S6) for engaging the meshing clutch in the first place when switched to the driving position from the non-driving position when the meshing clutch is released by selecting the non-driving position and frictional force of the friction brake is reduced; and a second control means (Step S7) for enhancing the frictional force of the friction brake after engaging the meshing clutch.
