To maintain normal video display on display panels other than a broken display panel even if power supply to a display panel in the middle of a serial connection of a plurality of display panels is stopped by transmitting video control data to subsequent display panels.
In a video display device configured by serially connecting a plurality of display panels 3 to 5 on which a plurality of light-emitting display elements are arranged in matrix as pixels, respective display panels 3 to 5 include corresponding first power sources 7 to 9 that supply power to all elements in the display panel including the light-emitting display elements, and further include a second power source for back-up that supplies power only to elements that deal with video control data of the entire display panels 3 to 5. If any one of the first power sources 7 to 9 fails, a display panel having the failed power source is supplied with power from the second power source.
