To display a higher-definition image in an image display device.

The image display device includes: an input section for inputting an input image; an image resolution increasing section for improving the resolution of a video signal inputted into the input section; an image processing section for performing image processing to the video signal of which resolution has been increased by the image resolution increasing section; and a display section for displaying an image after the image processing of the image processing section. The image processing section performs the-number-of-pixels reduction processing for reducing the number of pixels in the video signal, and low-pass filtering differing according to the amount of movement of an object included in the video signal inputted into the input section. When the amount of movement of the object included in the video signal inputted into the input section corresponds to the amount of movement other than an integral multiple of one pixel of the display section, a cutoff frequency in low-pass filtering is set to be higher than that when the amount of movement of the object included in the video signal inputted into the input section corresponds to an integral multiple of one pixel at the display section.
