To provide a video reproduction device and a video reproduction method for allowing a user to, when a comment communicated through a broadcast program and a community-type communication service is recorded and reproduced, effectively look at the comment corresponding to the program to be reproduced.
According to an embodiment, the video reproduction device comprises recording means, storage means, setting means, classification means, and display control means. The recording means receives and records a program. The storage means acquires and stores a comment through a network. The setting means sets a keyword for retrieving a comment corresponding to a program recorded by the recording means from comments stored by the storage means. The classification means classifies, on the basis of the keyword set by the setting means, a comment stored by the storage means according to a program recorded by the recording means that corresponds to the comment recorded by the recording means. The display control means performs control, when a program recorded by the recording means is reproduced, so as to display a comment classified as a comment corresponding to the program by the classification means together with the program.
