Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reproduce pictures natural and easily visible at the time of variable-speed reproduction by stipulating the constitution of reproducing treads and the running speed of a magnetic tape.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of using double azimuth heads, a tape running speed is set at 5n±0.5-fold. When the double azimuth heads A and B start scanning from the tracks T0 and T1 of a first frame and complete the scanning at the tracks T4-T6, the scanning is started from the tracks T1 and T2 of a second frame in the next scanning and the scanning is completed at the tracks T5-T7. Parts filled with horizontal lines and vertical lines in the figure are reproducing data. Similarly thereafter, the heads A and B scan the tracks in positions adjacent to one track right of a next frame for each scanning. When the tracks scanned in such a manner are gathered in one place, the data are connected. Similarly, at the time of performing reproduction using 180° opposing heads, the tape speed is set at 5n±0.25-fold. When a data read rate is smaller than 50%, the tape speed is set at 5n±0.25-fold for the double azimuth heads and at 5n±0.125-fold for the 180° opposing heads.
