Title:
SOLAR CELL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH065896
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the diffusion of dopants and the degradation of a solar cell by forming a diffusion preventing layer on a p/i boundary surface.

CONSTITUTION: A solar cell having a diffusion preventing layer is fabricated. In this diffusion preventing layer, an n-type semiconductor layer 103, a diffusion preventing layer 104, an i-type semiconductor layer 105 and a p-type semiconductor layer 106 are piled up. Then, a solar cell is fabricated wherein an n-type semiconductor layer 203, an i-type semiconductor layer 204 and a p-type semiconductor layer 205 are piled up. Each of the layers is sealed in a vacuum by a protective film made of VDF. After the layers had been left for one year under practical service conditions, a photoelectric converting efficiency was evaluated, and a deterioration rate due to exposure to light was examined. As a result of this, the deterioration rate of the solar cell with the diffusion preventing layer was found to be suppressed to 65%.
