Abstract:
To provide a virtual image display device having high display quality for virtual image.SOLUTION: An HUD displays a virtual image visible from an eye-box. The HUD comprises: an illumination part 40 providing illumination light for illuminating a visible area; and an image element 35 displaying on a display screen 36 an image imaged as virtual image by at least partially blocking illumination light on an optical path from the illumination part 40 to the eye-box. The illumination part 40 includes: an LED light source 43 emitting illumination light; a transmission lens 45 arranged between the LED light source 43 and the image element 35 on the optical path, having a counter lens surface 47 facing the LED light source 43, and transmitting part of the illumination light as transmitted light toward the image element 35; and a re-reflection part 50 re-reflecting toward the image element 35 as re-reflectance, reflectance obtained by reflecting part of the illumination light emitted from the LED light source 43 on the counter lens surface 47.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
