Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the title improver, superior in shear stability, low- temperature properties or the like, by mixing a molecule having a polymerized block structure and a molecule having a coupled block structure both of which comprise a specific compound.
CONSTITUTION: The improver is obtained by (i) anionically polymerizing a hydrogenated conjugated diene (B) (preferably, an isoprene or the like), a vinylarene (A) (preferably, a styrene or the like) and a methacrylate (M) [preferably a compound of the formula (wherein R is 1-10C alkyl, methyl or the like)] to prepare a polymer as a mixture of a primary molecule having a polymerized block structure B-A-M and 10-50 (weight)% (preferably 15-45%) of a secondary molecule having a coupled block structure B-A-M-A-B, (ii) selectively converting the polymer into a hydrogenated compound so as to hydrogenate most of an aliphatic unsaturation portion and a part of an aromatic portion, and then (iii) converting part of a methacrylate monomer into an amide or imide group.
