Title:
VISCOSITY MODIFIER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3783745
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a viscosity modifier being inert to water and alcohol and nonionic, showing good thickening effect even in a small amount and having excellent long-term viscosity stability and leveling properties by using a polyurethane compound terminated with a specified substituent.
SOLUTION: This modifier comprises a polyurethane compound terminated with a group of formula II, represented by formula I (wherein R1, R2 and R4 are each a hydrocarbon group; R3 is R1 or a urethane-bond-containing hydrocarbon group or an oxygenous hydrocarbon group having at least one benzene ring; m is 2 or above; h is 1 or above; k and n are each 1-500; and p is 1-5). It can be produced by reacting a polyetherpolyol represented by the formula: R1-[(O-R2)k-OH]m with a polyisocyanate represented by the formula: R3-(NCO)h+1 and a polyethermonool represented by formula III.
