Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a vitrified bond cubic boron nitride(CBN) grinding wheel displaying high grinding ratio.

CONSTITUTION: In a vitrified bond ctabic system boron nitride (CBN) grinding wheel formed by binding CBN abrasive grains with a glassy binding agent, its main unit consists of a compound oxide of Si, B, Al, Ti, Ca and Na. Further in the case of displaying a respective oxide of Si, B, Al, Ti, Ca and Na by SiO2, B2O3, Al2O3, TiO2, CaO and Na2O, the compound oxide has a composition consisting of, by mol%, 5 to 20% B2O3, 5 to 15% Al2O3, 2 to 10% TiO2, 2 to 10% CaO, 4 to 10% Na2O and the rest of SiO2 (however, containing 60% or more).
