To provide a water-based adhesive composition possessing adhesiveness excellent in respect of water resistance, heat resistance, and durability.
The water-based adhesive composition comprises a base containing a water-based polymer having carboxyl groups, a curing agent containing an isocyanate compound, and a tetrafunctional epoxy compound having a tertiary aminic nitrogen atom. The water-based polymer is selected from the group consisting of a water-soluble polymer containing carboxyl groups in the molecule, an aqueous solution thereof, an aqueous latex containing carboxyl groups in the molecule, and an aqueous emulsion containing carboxyl groups in the molecule. The isocyanate compound is a mixture of a polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanate and 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate. The tetrafunctional epoxy compound having the tertiary aminic nitrogen atom is a compound having an N,N-glycidylamino group.
