Abstract:
To obtain a water-based adhesive which develops adhesiveness within a short time and has excellent initial tack.
This adhesive is obtained by adding at least one member selected from among water-soluble polyvalent-metal compounds [e.g. organic acid salts (e.g. calcium acetate), inorganic acid salts (e.g. iron sulfate and potassium aluminum sulfate) and halides (e.g. calcium chloride)] to an aqueous emulsion containing a carboxylic polymer. The carboxylic polymer may be in the form of emulsified polymer particles or a protective colloid or may be a water-soluble polymer added to an emulsion. The amount of the polyvalent-metal compound used is about 0.001-25 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. carboxylic polymer.
