Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain at a low cost, the subject composition leading to low environmental pollution, also excellent in silicone resin function, comprising a water- miscible polar organic solvent and an organopolysiloxane with specified silanol group content and molecular weight.
SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) 30-90wt.% of an organopolysiloxane 200-10000 in number-average molecular weight and containing ≥3wt.% of silanol groups [pref. an organosiloxane of the formula (R is a halogen, epoxy, etc.; (m) and (n) are such that (m+n) is 0.5-1.5 and (n) is 0-1; R' is a ≤5C alkyl; (o) is 0-2; (p) is 0.1-1.5)] and (B) 10-70wt.% of a water-miscible polar organic solvent (pref. isopropanol). In terms of making the preservability of this composition favorable, it is preferable that this composition comprise 30-90wt.% of the organosiloxane of the formula, 9-69wt.% of the component B and 1-61wt.% of water. In terms of improving the stability of this composition when it is diluted with water, its pH level is pref. adjusted to 3-6.
