Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater capable of detecting middle failure which lowers precision of atmospheric temperature gaining means and capable of appropriately executing a freezing preventive operation even when the atmospheric temperature gaining means is not normal.SOLUTION: An atmospheric temperature gained by atmospheric temperature gaining means is compared with a water temperature in a water channel gained by water temperature gaining means and, based on a difference between the atmospheric temperature and the water temperature, the abnormality of the atmospheric temperature gaining means is detected. The water temperature lowers later than the atmospheric temperature and, when there is the abnormality in the water temperature, the water heater is stopped. Therefore, when the difference is less than a standard value, it can be determined that the atmospheric temperature gaining means is normal and, therein, the start of a freezing preventive operation is determined based on the atmospheric temperature. On the other hand, when the difference is the standard value or more, it can be determined that the abnormality occurs in the atmospheric temperature gaining means and, therein, the start of the freezing preventive operation is determined based on the water temperature in place of the atmospheric temperature and, therefore, even when the atmospheric temperature gaining means is not normal, the freezing preventive operation can be appropriately executed.
