PURPOSE: To obtain a water repellent fibrous sheetlike material improved in durability without causing cracks due to rubbing, etc., by forming the first water repellent film from a solvent or an emulsion type fluorine-based water repellent on a fibrous sheetlike material and the second water repellent film from the solvent type water repellent thereon.

CONSTITUTION: A solvent or an emulsion type fluorine-based water repellent is used to form a uniform and thin film on woven or knit fabric, nonwoven fabric, etc., composed of natural, synthetic fiber, etc., according to a padding method, etc. A film composed of the solvent type water repellent film is then formed thereon (dried by heating and cross-linked) to afford the objective water repellent fibrous sheetlike material, improved in durability in rubbing and abrasion and excellent in hand.
